21:05. Did the 4 laps instead of the street course.

19:50 - felt good; probably should've been a little bit faster given only 2 miles.

This may hurt but I think I'm going to follow the main site wod for today and make up the Deadlift 7x1 wod I missed last week and then run if it's not too slick out. May be forced into an active rest day tomorrow after that couplet but we'll see how it goes

6:46 (I think). 5 rounds of push jerks at 50#; pull-ups with blue band. Need work on pull-up technique. Still assisting with free leg.

Run felt good; however, shin splints did not. Anyone know how to prevent shin splints?
Posted by: Alison | February 10, 2009 at 08:04 AM
Alison, I thought I was the only one to get those. I used to ice both my shins after running WODS for hours. I still get them to a much much lesser degree since I have switched to the pose (or some modified form thereof--it is a work in progress). My shin splints have since improved about 85%. I have to constantly remind myself when running to stay on the balls of my feet.

Shin splints SUCK. I'll remember to try and pose as much as I can.
Posted by: Princess | February 10, 2009 at 08:49 AM
Shin splints are the result of over striding while you run and therefore must be fixed with a form adjustment.
I don't know the details about Pose method but the two main checks that I do when I am running is that my hips are forward and that my feet are striking the ground right underneath my body. That seems to have alleviated most of the running problems that I have had.

Thanks for the tips guys! I iced my legs this morning which helped. I guess I need to pay more attention to my form. I need to ask one of you Pose runners about the Pose method one of these days.
Hope everybody gets to enjoy the weather today!

I want to shave some more time off of this, but I wasted a lot of energy (and probably precious seconds, too) constantly re-adjusting my ear buds for the iPod since they fell out and/or got loose so much. I need headphones that aren't bulky but STAY PUT.
Posted by: Emily | February 10, 2009 at 12:17 PM
Emily - I used to have the same problem with every set of headphones I tried. Give these a try:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665376485
I've never had a problem with these. They stay in my ear perfectly and are very comfortable.

Someone promise me that by 7:00 p.m. it will still be nice outside?!!!
Posted by: Eileen C. R. | February 10, 2009 at 01:26 PM
I promise.
Posted by: Princess | February 10, 2009 at 01:50 PM
Joey, thanks for the suggestion! I have to check out headphone options like those. I do have a weird limitation, though: I have a severe nickel allergy and if the metal is too exposed/not surgical grade steel, I get a lovely red ear rash. On the plus side, it means I have an excuse for having expensive tastes in jewelry.

Hey Emily,
I have the same allergy . . . although mine flares up with surgical steel also - must have gold or sterling . . . poor Tim, literally!!

Deadlift
1-1-1-1-1-1-1
365#-395#-425#-455#-485#f-435#
Only 6 reps as my back started rounding badly at 455# so I played it cool as opposed to injuring myself and went back down. Just wasn't a pr day and I can live with that

15:11 My wife did this one with me this evening. Found a route using mapmyrun.com. Only hit one stop light, so pretty much no delays.
